In 2012, U.S. News and World Report listed these programs as the top three online MBA programs available.
Washington State University
Pullman, Washington / Online
Washington State University’s online MBA program ranked No. 7 on U.S. News and World Report‘s best colleges for online graduate degree programs. WSU’s program is designed for candidates who have an undergraduate degree from an AACSB-accredited school. Foundation courses are available in accelerated format for master’s degree candidates who lack an accredited BSBA. Master’s candidates may choose to concentrate their studies in finance, marketing, or international business. Though the program is entirely online, a study abroad option is included.
Arizona State University
Carey, Arizona / Online
While the online MBA program at ASU is earned entirely outside of the classroom, its curriculum and faculty involvement match that of its campus-based sister MBA program. In fact, ASU earned 2nd place on U.S. News and World Report‘s list of best online graduate degree programs for business. Master’s degree candidates at ASU may choose to emphasize their studies in finance, international business, supply chain management, or marketing. MBA students may also earn concurrent degrees in legal studies, electrical engineering, or industrial engineering.
Indiana University
Bloomington, Indiana / Online
The online degree program at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business mirrors the curriculum of its classroom-based equivalent; however, online MBA candidates are from every state in the union and more than 30 countries. It’s no wonder so many students are attracted to the Kelley School of Business; the school earned the No. 1 spot on U.S. News and World Report‘s list of best graduate schools for business. Most of the curriculum is comprised of core courses that take place online, but some electives may be taken on campus or at other onsite learning facilities. Students may concentrate MBA degree studies in business law, ethics, economics, project management, operations, or several others.
Campus Only
Traditional, classroom-based MBA programs have been the norm for many years. U.S. News and World Report, Forbes and CNN Money are just a few of the professional organizations that rank MBA programs. Perform your due diligence before committing to an onsite MBA program, and get the best return on your investment.
Harvard University
Boston, Massachusetts
U.S. News and World Report and CNN Money agree: both publications rated Harvard’s School of Business as the best MBA provider in the country. While the Executive Education program educates business leaders all over the world, the MBA program is a two-year, onsite residential program in Boston. Residence is not required; however, as the only MBA program that has a residence option, it offers unique opportunities for networking and group study.
Stanford University
Stanford, California
Known as an MBA program that produces successful entrepreneurs, Stanford University’s two-year MBA program begins with a solid foundation of general management skills in the first year. Their program is ranked No. 1 on U.S. News and World Report‘s list of best business schools. Candidates can customize their degree programs in their second year by taking electives, choosing among seven concentrations, and taking part in the Global Experience Requirement.
Columbia University
New York, New York
While ranking experts may disagree on the details, Columbia’s MBA program is one of the top ten available to U.S. students. Columbia ranked No. 8 on U.S. News and World Report‘s list for best business schools; however, it’s important to keep in mind that Columbia also offers superior student support services. According to Forbes, 90% of MBA billionaires attended either Columbia, Harvard, or U. Penn’s Wharton School of Business. The program’s focus on academic excellence and entrepreneurship creates graduates who are prepared to excel. Its location in New York City also brings global business leaders to campus for seminars and real-world instruction. Columbia offers a standard two-year MBA curriculum, as well as a more flexible Executive MBA program.
